| OUR BEGINNING: |
| All it took was one idea, 53 orphans in need, and a couple people with big hearts for change to bring about the beginning of H.A.N.D.S. Upon making a missions trip to an orphanage in Mexico, Geoffrey Nighswonger, President of HANDS, fell in love with the 53 orphans he met. As Christmas approached he decided to ask around and see if he could get 53 people to donate a pair of shoes, this would give each child a new pair for Christmas. He contacted his long-time friend Genesis Williams who jumped into gear and together they accomplished the task. They not only got all 53 kids sponsored for shoes but pants, sun glasses, some toys and other clothing as well. Geoffrey and Genesis both have hearts for those less fortunate and a history of participating and volunteering for many of the same organizations and events. With such a gentle heart matched with a strong mind for ideas and the drive and ambition to promote change Geoffrey had a vision to use his talents to do non-profit work. With a background in business and a heart much like Geoffrey's, Genesis and Geoffrey seemed to be the perfect partnership to start what is now H.A.N.D.S. With the addition of Deanna Elkin who also has a heart for change that is matched with a strong media, production and television background and David Montalvan who's strength in organizing and attention to detail learned through his time in the military and his motivation to see the world around him changed the group of four make up a powerful team. This is how H.A.N.D.S. ON INTERNATIONAL began and we believe there is no project too big or too small if there is someone willing to take it on! |
